Parking Reminder for Residents Attending Elbow Beach Festivities

The Bermuda Police Service recognizes on Christmas Day a number of island residents coverage on Elbow Beach for festive celebrations.

This results in cars and cycles being illegally parked on South Road and surrounding roads causing major traffic delays and safety hazards.

This year officers from the BPS Community Action Team (CAT) will be on hand to facilitate the free flow of traffic. We are asking for the motoring public not to block residents' driveways and entrances to businesses.

Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints: December 28th – January 1st

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that following the road sobriety checkpoints this weekend (December 21st until December 23rd), the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Friday, December 14th) will be conducted starting Friday, December 28th.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton on Friday, December 28th, Saturday, December 29th, Sunday, December 30th, Monday, December 31st and Tuesday, January 1st 2019.

Man Arrested After Altercation in the Spanish Point, Pembroke Area

Around 2:30pm Tuesday, December 18th police officers were dispatched to a reported assault in the Spanish Point, Pembroke area.

It appears that a 26 year old Pembroke man and a 38 year old Pembroke man (neighbours) had an altercation on a path between Stovell Bay Road and North Cote West over the flying of a kite, with the older man brandishing a bladed article.

Safety Reminder After Truck Driver Hurt by Piece of Lumber

A truck driver was hurt in an incident that occurred on St. John’s Road in Pembroke near the junction with Marsh Folly Road Monday morning (December 17th).

Police officers and fellow first responders attended the scene around 11:20am.

City of Hamilton Incident: Two Students Arrested, One Officer Injured

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is aware of the video footage being circulated around social media showing police interaction with a group of students and it is not a complete characterization of everything that took place.

For context, around 4:10pm Thursday, December 13th Police Support Unit (PSU) officers were on patrol in the City of Hamilton after a report of an altercation involving school students.

Condolence Book for Former Commissioner of Police Frederick Bean

The passing of former Commissioner of Police Frederick “Penny” Bean OBE QPM represents a monumental loss for the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) and the local community at large.

To pay honour and respect to the first Bermudian Commissioner of Police, a number of tributes have been organised within the BPS and publicly to celebrate his life and legacy.

Driver Injured in North Shore Road Crash Admitted to ICU

At last check this afternoon (December 12th) the driver injured in a single vehicle car crash on North Shore Road in Pembroke near the north gate of Government House – believed to be a 49 year old Warwick man – was listed in critical but stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

The 49 year old was hurt when the car he was driving struck a wall at 10:08am Wednesday.

Driver & Passenger Unhurt After Harrington Sound Road Car Crash

Around 5:50pm Thursday, December 6th police and fellow first responders attended a reported single vehicle car crash on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish.

It now appears that the car involved was being driven in the eastbound lane of Harrington Sound Road when it struck a wall in the vicinity of Harrington Hundreds Road, damaging the vehicle and the wall.

Condition Checks on Motorists Involved in Recent Separate Crashes

At last check this morning (December 5th) the 88 year old woman hospitalised after a three vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Riddell’s Bay Road around 9am Tuesday, November 20th remained in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Separately, a check of the hospital Monday (December 3rd) confirmed that a motorcyclist hurt after striking a wall in a single vehicle crash on Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton parish around 6:50pm Tuesday, November 27th was no longer in hospital.
