Road Sobriety Checkpoints Data: Thursday Night Until Friday Morning

Road sobriety checkpoints conducted by the Roads Policing Unit from Thursday night until early Friday morning ended with three impaired drivers arrested.

Following initial and secondary field tests indicating impairment, two of the three drivers failed the alco-analyser test at Hamilton Police Station, while the third refused to take it.

Sudden Death of 53 Year Old Man in Hamilton Parish [Updated]

Around 11am today (November 8th) police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service and ambulance personnel responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive man floating in waters near the Railway Trail in the North Shore Road, Hamilton parish area.

Initial information indicates that the man had been fishing in the area, located across from Shelly Bay MarketPlace.

Man Injured in Single Vehicle Car Crash Recovering on General Ward

Around 4:55pm Tuesday, November 6th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle car crash on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Church Road.

It now appears that the car involved was being driven in the eastbound lane of Middle Road (in the vicinity of Five Star Island) when it collided with a roadside stone wall.

Injured Motorcyclist Treated & Discharged After Devonshire Collision

Around 5:25pm Monday, November 5th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported collision at the Barkers Hill round-a-bout in Devonshire.

It now appears that the motorcyclist and car driver involved were each attempting to negotiate the round-a-bout when the collision occurred.

The injured rider, a 49 year old woman believed to be from Devonshire, was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and later discharged.

Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints in Four Parishes

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Wednesday, October 31st) will be conducted starting this Thursday.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Devonshire, Pembroke and Paget on Thursday, November 8th, Friday, November 9th, Saturday, November 10th and Sunday, November 11th.

Police & Fire Service Investigators Continue Inquiries Into House Fire

The Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service continue to investigate the circumstances of a fire that occurred around 5:20pm Thursday, November 1st at a Scott’s Hill Road, Sandys parish residence, where a 66 year old man’s lifeless body was found.

The scene has been processed by the relevant police personnel and identification of the deceased is anticipated in due course.

No Major Incidents of Anti-Social Behaviour Reported Over Halloween

Police officers conducted high visibility patrols throughout the island during Halloween and overnight, responding to various calls for service. However, there were no significant incidents of anti-social behaviour reported.

79 Year Old Female Pedestrian Struck by Taxi on Cobbs Hill Road

Around 8pm Wednesday, October 31st police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported collision involving a pedestrian on Cobbs Hill Road in Warwick near the junction with the Railway Trail.

Investigation Continues Regarding Harbour Road Stabbing Incident

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to investigate the circumstances regarding the attempted robbery and serious assault of a 43 year old man that occurred on Harbour Road in Paget near the junction with Valley Road around 2:53am Tuesday, October 23rd which left the Paget resident hospitalised with stab wounds.

Inquiries Underway After Incident Near Southampton Rangers

Inquiries are currently underway after a collision involving a male motorcyclist and a police vehicle occurred in the Horseshoe Road, South Avenue Southampton area near Southampton Rangers Sports Club around 10pm Sunday (October 28th) as the premises was closing.

The rider, believed to be a 25 year old Hamilton parish man, apparently sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital via ambulance, but left before being assessed by medical staff.
