Aggravated Robbery of CedarBridge Academy Student in St. George’s [Updated]

Around 1:10pm today (February 6th) police officers responded to a reported aggravated robbery at Somers Garden in St. George’s.

Initial information indicates that a group of CedarBridge Academy students along with their teachers were on a field trip visiting St. George’s.

As the students and teachers entered Somers Garden a 17 year old male student was attacked by two males – described as approximately 5 feet tall, 18 to 20 years old wearing a black tracksuit and approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall wearing a green or grey tracksuit respectively – who grabbed a gold chain from around his neck.

Inquiries Underway After Rider Opens Driver’s Door of Moving Car

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a video circulating on social media showing a motorcyclist riding up to a car and briefly opening the driver’s door.

Information provided to police indicates that around 7:30pm Friday, February 1st two cars were being driven east along York Street, St. George’s when a male motorcyclist, riding in the same direction, made a brief attempt to open the driver’s door of the first car.

Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints: February 8th – 10th

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Wednesday, January 30th) will be conducted starting this Friday, February 8th.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton on Friday, February 8th, Saturday, February 9th and Sunday, February 10th.

Reported Armed Robbery at Ice Queen in Paget

Around 2:45am today (February 1st) police officers responded to a reported armed robbery at Ice Queen in Paget. It appears that three men entered the establishment – with two brandishing knives and one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm – and demanded money.

The perpetrators fled on foot a short time later with a quantity of cash and were described as: approximately 6 feet tall wearing a camouflage coloured helmet with a tinted visor and black hoodie with white writing on the front; approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall wearing a black helmet with a tinted visor and black varsity jacket with white sleeves; and approximately 6 feet tall wearing a black helmet with a tinted visor and all black clothing respectively.

62 Year Old Male Pedestrian Struck by Car Remains Stable in ICU [Updated]

At last check this morning (January 30th) the 62 year old Hamilton parish man seriously injured when a car struck him as he walked along North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near Trinity Church Road around 3pm Thursday, January 17th remained in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

One Motorist Arrested for Impaired Driving Over the Weekend

One motorist was arrested for impaired driving from Friday night (January 25th) until Sunday night (January 27th).

While there are no road sobriety checkpoints scheduled for this coming weekend, members of the public are urged not to drive or ride under the influence as police officers conducting their regular patrols will be on the lookout for any offences, including impaired driving.

49 Year Old Female JetBlue Passenger Recovering on a General Ward

At last check this morning (January 25th) the 49 year old Jamaican woman residing in New York who took ill on a JetBlue flight en route between Antigua and New York U.S.A. that diverted to L.F. Wade International Airport around 8pm Thursday (January 24th) was recovering on a general ward at the hospital.

After refuelling, the JetBlue flight continued on to its intended destination.

Motorcyclist Injured in Collision With Car Treated & Discharged

Around 7pm Wednesday, January 23rd police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision at the junction of Somerset Road and Beacon Hill Road in Sandys parish.

It appears that a motorcyclist was traveling along Somerset Road and a car driver was attempting to exit Beacon Hill Road when the collision occurred.

Inquiries Underway: Aggravated Burglary at Pompano Beach Club

Detectives are currently conducting inquiries into a reported aggravated burglary that occurred at Pompano Beach Club in Southampton early Sunday morning (January 20th).

It appears that an intruder – described as an approximately 6 foot tall black male in his early to mid-20s wearing a dark coloured hooded top – gained entry into a room on the premises between 3:15am and 3:20am Sunday.
