The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Thursday, March 28th) will be conducted starting next Friday, April 5th.
The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton on Friday, April 5th, Saturday, April 6th and Sunday, April 7th.
Around 10:40pm Tuesday, March 26th several 911 calls were received reporting gunshots in the Spring Hill, Warwick area. Police officers responded to the neighbourhood and did not find anyone injured – but subsequently confirmed that a firearm had been discharged.
Inquiries are underway and witnesses or anyone with any information – particularly area residents that may have observed any suspicious activity in the vicinity of Bright Temple A.M.E. Church Tuesday night – please call the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739 or the independent and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477 at the earliest opportunity.
Around 7:10am today (March 26th) a member of the public observed and reported an unconscious man in the trees along Palmetto Road in Devonshire near Dock Hill.
Police and fellow first responders were immediately dispatched to the scene and the man was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead later this morning.
A total of 10 motorists were arrested for impaired driving offences over the weekend, with road sobriety checkpoints conducted in six parishes from Friday night (March 22nd) until Sunday night (March 24th).
While there are no road sobriety checkpoints scheduled for this coming weekend, members of the public are urged not to drive or ride under the influence as police officers conducting their regular patrols will be on the lookout for any offences, including impaired driving.
Around 9:30pm Wednesday, March 20th police officers on mobile patrol in the City of Hamilton found a 61 year old man barely conscious, lying on Parliament Street near the junction with Front Street.
The man, believed to be of no fixed abode, was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, but sadly later pronounced dead.
Identification of the deceased is anticipated in due course, pending the necessary next of kin notification.

Approximately 2pm today (March 13th) police officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery at Bo’s Lawn and Gardening, Middle Road, Warwick.
The suspect did not display a weapon nor obtain any items. He was challenged by the 33 year old male owner and a struggle ensued on premises.
The suspect broke free and subsequently ran off.
The investigation continues regarding a reported armed robbery at the Ord Road Mini Market in Paget and police are following very specific lines of inquiry.
Detectives are keen to talk with members of the public who may have seen anyone in the area acting suspiciously before, during or after the incident. Anyone with any relevant information is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.
At last check this afternoon (March 8th) a 28 year old male motorcyclist – said to be a Warwick resident – hurt in a collision with a car and another motorcycle around 7am Thursday, March 7th on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Wilson Place remained in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital, recovering from a leg injury.
Initial information suggested that the injured man was 35 year old.
Around 7am today (March 7th) police, fire and ambulance personnel responded to a reported collision on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Wilson Place.
Initial information indicates that a car and a motorcycle were involved with the rider, believed to be a 35 year old Warwick man, sustaining a leg injury.
He was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and at last check was listed in stable condition.
