Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints: March 8th – 10th

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Tuesday, February 26th) will be conducted starting this Friday, March 8th.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton on Friday, March 8th, Saturday, March 9th and Sunday, March 10th.

22 Year Old Male Rider Hurt in Paget Crash Treated & Discharged

A 22 year old man hurt in a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred around 8pm Wednesday, February 27th was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and later discharged.

Apparently the 22 year old rider – said to be a Paget resident – struck a kerb in the Trimingham Road, Trimingham Hill Paget area.

Investigation Continues Regarding Random Lane Stabbing Incident

A 20 year old Warwick man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 59 year old Warwick man at a Random Lane, Warwick residence around 6:30pm Tuesday, February 26th – and remains in police custody at this time, pending further inquiries.

Apparently both men were hurt after being involved in a violent altercation with each other.

Inquiries Underway After Suspicious Incident at The Hub in Warwick

Detectives are currently conducting inquiries regarding a reported suspicious incident at The Hub on Middle Road in Warwick around 11am Monday, February 25th.

Police are aware of the security camera footage of the incident circulating on social media and appreciate the impact of the video and the concern it raises in the community.

32 Year Old Woman in ICU After Early Morning Car Crash [Updated]

Around 2:15am today (February 25th) police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle car crash on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with East Point Lane.

It appears that the car involved was being driven west along North Shore Road when it crashed into some trees and overturned.

The front seat passenger, said to be a 32 year old woman, sustained multiple injuries after apparently being ejected from the vehicle.

16 Year Old Boy Assaulted in The Glebe Road, Pembroke Area

Around 11am today (February 21st) police officers and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported assault in The Glebe Road, Pembroke area.

It appears that a 16 year old boy was attacked by two other males, with one apparently brandishing a bladed article.

The assailants, described as wearing dark coloured clothing and dark coloured helmets, then left the area on a motorcycle.

Police Car & Motorcycle Collide Near Southside Police Station [Updated]

Around 7:45am today (February 13th) a two vehicle collision occurred on St. David’s Road in St. George’s – involving a police car and a motorcycle – in the vicinity of Southside Police Station.

Police, fire and ambulance personnel responded to the incident.

Initial information indicates that a pregnant woman was riding the motorcycle with a young girl as pillion passenger at the time of the collision, and that both were transported to hospital via ambulance for injuries that are not believed to be serious.

Advisory: Counterfeit Bermuda $50 Notes Currently in Circulation

Residents and businesses are advised to be vigilant for counterfeit Bermuda $50 notes currently in circulation, bearing serial numbers A1402579 and A1361701.

In the last 10 days, 10 of these counterfeit Bermuda $50 notes have been seized by police.

Employees are once again advised that if counterfeit cash is detected during a transaction, the member of staff receiving the fake money should hold on to it, note the description of the individual who tendered it and contact police immediately.

Scam Alert: Phishing E-mail Claiming to be from Butterfield Bank

Once again the Bermuda Police Service would like to remind members of the public to remain vigilant regarding phone calls, e-mails and other correspondence from unknown persons that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data.

The practice is commonly referred to as ‘phishing’.

This misleading e-mail claiming to be from Butterfield Bank – asking recipients to update their security details – was a recent example and resulted in the loss of several thousand dollars from one resident who responded.

Driver Stable in Hospital After Car Overturns on Headquarters Hill

At last check this morning (February 7th), the 78 year old man believed to be from Sandys parish who overturned his car on Headquarters Hill, Prospect Devonshire outside of the Police Recreation Club at 1:38pm Wednesday, February 6th – as a result of a suspected medical incident – was listed in stable condition in the hospital.

Any witnesses are still encouraged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.
