Renewed Appeal: Road Fatality of 21 Year Old Antoine Seaman

The investigation regarding the fatal collision involving a police vehicle that claimed the life of 21 year old Antoine Seaman and occurred around 1:50am Monday, April 15th on Somerset Road in Sandys parish – near the junction with Wilson Place – continues.

The investigating officer, Sergeant Dorian Astwood of the Roads Policing Unit, is renewing the appeal for witnesses as well as anyone who can help identify the last movements of Mr. Seaman from 11pm Sunday, April 14th until 1:50am Monday, April 15th.

Reported Armed Robbery at Champs Variety: No Reported Injuries

Around 12:45pm today (April 15th) police officers responded to a reported armed robbery at Champs Variety on The Glebe Road in Pembroke.

It appears that two suspects entered the store and demanded money, with one of the individuals pointing an object at the cashier that was covered in a piece of clothing – but believed to be a firearm.

Heavy Truck Downs Overhead Communication Lines in Devonshire

Around 11:30am today (April 12th) police officers were dispatched to an incident involving a heavy truck on Middle Road in Devonshire.

It appears that the heavy truck was being driven in the eastbound lane of Middle Road when it pulled down overhead communication lines near the junction with Brighton Hill Road.

Temporary traffic diversions were in effect in the vicinity of Christ Church until technicians from the affected companies arrived on scene to carry out necessary repairs.

Inquiries Continue to Identify All Perpetrators of Animal Cruelty Video

The 19 year old man and 17 year old boy arrested Tuesday afternoon (April 9th) – in connection with the appalling video circulating on social media showing acts of cruelty carried out on lambs in Sandys parish – currently remain in police custody, pending further inquiries.

The 17 year old male was initially said to be 16 years of age.

Appeal: Help Bring Perpetrators of Animal Cruelty Video to Justice [Updated]

Inquiries continue regarding the appalling video circulating on social media of a young man being incited to carry out acts of cruelty on lambs in Sandys parish, in conjunction with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The Bermuda Police Service is taking the matter extremely seriously and efforts are ongoing to bring the individual being filmed committing the offence into custody – as well as to track down the individual behind the camera.

Five Motorists Arrested for Impaired Driving Over the Weekend

A total of five motorists were arrested for impaired driving offences over the weekend, with road sobriety checkpoints conducted in six parishes from Friday night (April 5th) until Sunday night (April 7th).

While there are no road sobriety checkpoints scheduled for this coming weekend, members of the public are urged not to drive or ride under the influence as police officers conducting their regular patrols will be on the lookout for any offences, including impaired driving.

BPS Officers Assist With Cayman Islands Royal Visit Security Detail

Four members of the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) have recently returned from the Cayman Islands, after spending a week working alongside the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) as Close Protection Officers (CPO), during an official Royal visit on the 27th and 28th of March.

The officers had the distinct honour and privilege of being deployed as part of the security detail to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, during the Royal couple’s Cayman leg of their Caribbean tour.

Man Hurt in Industrial Accident in Southampton

Shortly after 7am this morning [4-April] first responders attended the Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, to a report of an industrial accident.

It was reported that a 48-year-old groundsman was operating a tractor style mower, when he placed his hand inside of the machine attempting to remove some debris. As a result, several fingers were severed from his left hand. The man was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and is currently being treated for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Sudden Death on Diverted Flight

Around 12:55am on Wednesday, 3rd April, first responders attended L.F. Wade International Airport regarding a flight diversion to Bermuda, after a reported medical emergency.

Jet Blue flight #1562, originally departed Barbados en route to New York, but was diverted to Bermuda after a 63-year-old woman became unresponsive during the flight. The woman was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where she was later pronounced dead.

Man Arrested in Connection With Stolen Motorcycle

On Sunday March 31st a complainant reported putting their motorcycle up for sale on an online “sale site.” This resulted in two individuals attending his residence asking to take the cycle for a test drive.

The males took the cycle however they never came back. Acting on specific information one of the males was arrested in connection with the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
