Impaired Drivers - Around 2:30am on Monday February 13th, police on mobile patrol along Crow Lane in Pembroke observed two motorcycles driving erratically. Officers stopped both motorcycles and spoke with the riders, who appeared to be intoxicated. As a result, the two riders, a 39 year old Warwick man and a 41 year old Southampton man were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Both were detained in police custody after failing the alco-analyser test. A court appearance is expected in due course.
Traffic Advisory - The Ministry of Public Works would like to remind motorists that the east-bound traffic lane on South Road, Paget from Point Finger Road to the entrance of Agriculture and Fisheries on South Road will be closed to accommodate trench works being carried out by Island Construction Services for the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital site. This is effective from Monday February 13th, 2012 to Wednesday May 30th, 2012.
Collision - Around 1:40pm on Wednesday February 8th, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Happy Valley Road in Devonshire. It appears that a car was travelling along Happy Valley Road when it collided with an embankment and overturned. The car was extensively damaged however, the driver, a 55 year old Pembroke woman received minor injuries that apparently did not require hospital treatment. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Collisions - Around 9:30pm on Tuesday February 7th, police responded to a report of a collision on South Road in Paget. It appears that a truck was travelling along South Road near Coral Beach when it went over an embankment. The truck was damaged, however the driver, a 49 year old Devonshire man was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Collision - Around 2:30pm on Monday February 6th, police and first responders attended a reported collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish between two motorcycles. It appears that both motorcycles were travelling along North Shore Road when they collided near the junction with Coney Island Road. One of the riders, a 20 year old Southampton woman sustained leg injuries. The other rider, a 36 year old Hamilton parish man sustained minor hand injuries. Both motorcycles were extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Officers stopped the car and spoke to the driver who appeared to be intoxicated. The 57 year old Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody after failing the alco-analyser test. A court appearance is expected in due course.
Suspected Burglars Arrested in Paget - As a result of a vigilant resident reporting suspicious activity in their neighbouhood, two men, a 39 year old Sandys man and a 36 year old Pembroke man were arrested on suspicion of burglary in the Berry Hill Road, Paget area around 10pm Wednesday February 1st. Both men remain in police custody pending further inquiries.
The Bermuda Police Service continues to encourage members of the public to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods to the police by contacting 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity. The public is reminded that receiving stolen property is an offence punishable under the law.
Collision - Around 7:30pm on Monday, January 30th police and first responders attended a reported collision on South Road in Paget near the junction with Southcote Road involving a motorcycle and an auxiliary cycle. It appears that both vehicles were travelling along South Road when they collided. The rider and pillion passenger of the auxiliary cycle, a 34 year old Devonshire man and a 31 year old Devonshire woman respectively as well as the rider of the motorcycle, a 60 year old Pembroke man, were injured.
Collisions - Around 6:55am on Monday January 30th, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on St. Anne’s Road in Southampton. It appears that a car was travelling along St. Anne’s Road when it went over an embankment and collided with a house in the area. Both the home and the car were damaged. The driver, a 28 year old Southampton woman was not injured. Inquiries into the incident are underway.
Road Safety Advisory - The Bermuda Police Service would like to remind motorcycle riders that when possible, they should secure their personal belongings in the compartment under the seat of the motorcycle or in a locked basket. In addition, all road users are advised to be aware of their surroundings when travelling throughout the Island, particularly at night. Motorists are encouraged to be vigilant for any suspicious activity or individuals while traveling on the Island’s roads and road users that encounter any suspicious activity are encouraged to contact the main police number on 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity or 911 in an emergency.
