Update: ATV Collision on North Shore Road - The two 23 year old men hurt when an ATV they were riding collided with a utility pole near the junction of North Shore Road and Blackwatch Pass, Pembroke are both in stable condition on a general ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with leg injuries. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Update: Mount Hill Collision - Initially it was believed that the pedestrian involved in the collision at Mount Hill, Pembroke on Thursday February 23rd was an 11 year old boy. He is now confirmed to be seven years old. At last check, the victim was in stable condition on the children’s ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with a leg injury. Any witnesses to the collision or anyone with any information should contact the main police number on 295-0011.
Collision - Around 8:20am on Thursday February 23rd, police and first responders attended a reported collision on Mount Hill in Pembroke between a car and a pedestrian. It appears that a car was travelling along Mount Hill when it collided with a pedestrian near the junction with Berkeley Road. The pedestrian, believed to be an 11 year old boy, was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The driver, a 71 year old Pembroke man was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Traffic Advisory - Around 11am on Wednesday February 22nd, a single vehicle damage only collision occurred on Harbour Road in Paget near the junction with Lovers Lane. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time, however it appears that a car was travelling along Harbour Road when it collided with a utility pole. There have been no reported injuries as a result. BELCO personnel are currently at the scene to repair or replace the damaged utility pole.
Burglary Advisory - Once again the Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries. Recently there have been a number of burglaries reported in various parishes throughout the island. As a result, the public is encouraged to make sure all windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended, even for short periods of time.
In addition, the public is reminded to secure their cars by locking all doors and windows before leaving their vehicles unattended.
Impaired Drivers - Around 3:10am on Sunday February 19th, police were on mobile patrol in the area of Trimingham Hill, Paget when they observed a motorcycle driving erratically. Officers caused the motorcycle to stop and spoke with the rider, who appeared to be intoxicated. The 20 year old Paget man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and an outstanding warrant. He was detained in police custody after failing the alco-analyser test. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Attempted Robbery - Around 11pm on Thursday February 16th, police responded to a reported attempted robbery on Middle Road in Devonshire. It appears that a 16 year old male auxiliary cycle rider was accosted by two unknown males on a motorcycle as he travelled along Middle Road near the junction with Brighton Hill Road. As a result, the Devonshire teenager and the auxiliary cycle fell to the ground; however he sustained relatively minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment. Motorists travelling in the area at the time stopped to help the teen.
Collision - Around 9:15am on Wednesday February 15th, police and first responders attended a reported collision on Cahow Way in St. George’s between a motorcycle and a parked truck. It appears that the motorcycle was travelling along Cahow Way when it collided with the truck which was parked outside a terminal at the L.F. Wade International Airport. The motorcycle was extensively damaged. The rider, a 21 year old Warwick man was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. He is currently in stable condition.
Collision - Around 5:30pm on Tuesday February 14th, police and first responders attended a reported collision on South Road in Paget. It appears that a motorcycle and a pedal cycle were travelling along South Road when they collided near the junction with Cobbs Hill Road. The motorcycle rider, a 25 year old Warwick man and the pedal cycle rider, a 10 year old Paget boy were both conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of relatively minor injuries. Both were treated and later released. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Public Intervention Results in Arrest for Theft - Around 8:45pm on Monday February 13th, police responded to a report of a handbag snatch on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that a 35 year old Sandys woman was standing in a cycle parking area near her motorcycle when she was approached by an unknown man who grabbed her bag from the motorcycle and ran off. The suspect was pursued by members of the public and initially managed to elude them. However, he was later located on Bermudiana Road by a member of the public, who contacted police. As a result, the 35 year old Southampton man was arrested and detained in police custody.
