Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 55 year old Peter Mitchell of Devonshire. Mr. Mitchell was found in an unresponsive state inside his Tee Street, Devonshire home by a family member around 9:15am Friday and subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician at the scene. Autopsy results are pending; however, his death is not believed to be suspicious. The Bermuda Police Service extends sincere condolences to the family & friends of Mr. Mitchell.

February 28 - Weekend Report

Robbery - Around 9:40am on Saturday, Police received a report of a robbery at Card Cove in the City of Hamilton. Officers arrived at the scene a short time later. It appears that around 9:30am that day an unknown man entered the store and approached the cashier. The suspect brandished a bladed article before taking a quantity of money from the cash register and making good his escape on Queen Street. The cashier, an 85 year old Devonshire woman and a customer who was in the store at the time, a 76 year old Paget woman, were not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

February 21 - Weekend Report

Fire - Around 5am on Saturday, Police attended a reported fire at a Mount Hill Mews, Pembroke residence. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service was already at the scene dealing with the blaze. It appears that four apartments were extensively damaged as a result. The fire was eventually extinguished by Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel. There were no reported injuries. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

February 14 - Weekend Report

Injury RTC - Around 10:50pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Tribe Road #3 involving a taxi and a bus. Details about how the collision occurred remain unclear; however the driver of the taxi, a 50 year old Smith’s parish man, sustained injuries to his chest & ribs. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment and is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The driver of the bus, a 44 year old Sandys parish woman, was not injured. The taxi received extensive front end damage while the bus received moderate rear end damage.

February 7 - Weekend Report

High Speed Chase/Officers Injured - Around 9:45pm on Saturday, Police were on mobile patrol in the Middle Road, Warwick area when they observed a man on a motorcycle travel from Khyber Pass on to Middle Road heading east without stopping at the posted stop sign at the junction of Khyber Pass and Middle Road. As a result, the officers caused the motorcyclist to stop on Middle Road in Paget near Four Ways Inn. It appears that while attempting to speak with the motorcycle rider about the traffic offence he accelerated away, heading west on Middle Road.

January 31 - Weekend Report

Assault - Around 3:50am on Saturday, Police received a report of an assault at Ice Queen in Paget. It appears that several individuals were involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot. However, the alleged culprits made good their escape before the arrival of Police. A 28 year old Paget man and two other men were injured and taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The Paget man sustained stab wounds to his body and is currently in stable condition on a general ward. The second injured man also received treatment while the third injured man left the hospital before receiving treatment.

January 24 - Weekend Report

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving - Around 11:10pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish, near the junction with Radnor Road. It appears that a van was traveling west on North Shore Road when the driver, a 31 year old Warwick man, lost control and collided with a wall. As a result the van ended up across the road, blocking both lanes and traffic was diverted away from the scene. The Warwick man reportedly sustained facial injuries and a broken right shoulder. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment, where he is currently in stable condition on a general ward.

January 17 - Weekend Report

Injury RTC - Around 2:50am today, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Knapton Hill in Smith’s parish. It appears that a car was traveling east on Knapton Hill when the driver, a 24 year old St. George’s woman, lost control and collided with a wall. The St. George’s woman sustained injuries to her head, ribs, arms and left knee. It appears that she was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The car received extensive front end damage. The wall and an iron gate were also damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

January 10 - Weekend Report

Fatal RTC - At 11:40pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a serious road traffic collision in the area of Somerset Road and Scaur Hill Drive in Sandys parish. Details about the collision are unclear at the moment; however it appears that a car and a motorcycle were involved. As a result the rider of the motorcycle, a 23 year old Sandys parish man, received multiple injuries and was taken to KEMH via ambulance. He subsequently succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by an on call physician at 2:33am Sunday. Inquiries into this incident are underway. No further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified.

January 3 - Weekend Report

Fatal RTC - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 21 year old Earl Ingemann of Sandys parish. Mr. Ingemann was a passenger in a car involved in a serious single vehicle road traffic collision on Kindley Field Road in St. George’s in the vicinity of Stone Crusher Corner around 3:35am Friday, January 1st. He sustained serious head & chest injuries and was taken to KEMH before being airlifted overseas for further medical treatment; however he subsequently succumbed to his injuries. The Bermuda Police Service extends sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
