Injury RTC - Around 1pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Front Street and Parliament Street in the City of Hamilton involving a taxi and a pedestrian. It appears that the pedestrian, a 59 year old Warwick woman, was walking across the pedestrian crossing at the junction and the taxi was turning from Front Street on to Parliament Street when the collision occurred. The Warwick woman sustained bruising and pain to her body. She was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment and later released. The driver, a 52 year old St. George’s man, was not injured and the taxi was not damaged.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Robbery - Around 4:50am on Sunday, Police received a report of a robbery. It appears that earlier the victim, an 18 year old Southampton man, purchased food at Ice Queen in Paget before leaving around 3:45am riding an auxiliary cycle heading west on South Road. He stopped at the lay by almost opposite Warwick Camp on South Road in Warwick when several unknown men in a car accosted him. Apparently the auxiliary cycle the victim was riding was pushed down an embankment by the assailants afterward. The suspects made good their escape with a quantity of cash and jewelry, as well as the 18 year old Southampton man’s BlackBerry cellular phone.

Suspicious Circumstances/Attempted Robbery - Around 10pm on Thursday, Police received a report of suspicious men outside Lindo’s Family Foods on Middle Road in Warwick. Officers arrived at the scene a short time later and spoke with the complainant, a 36 year old Warwick man. The Warwick man stated that he was using the ATM machine located outside Lindo’s when he was approached by two unknown men as he went to leave. One of the suspects grabbed him and demanded money; however the 36 year old managed to make good his escape on foot.

Burglary - Around 8pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Claytown, Hamilton parish residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 10:30am and 4pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole an I-Pod Touch and a quantity of jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Handbag Snatch - At 9:05pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch in the vicinity of the Fairmont Southampton Resort. The complainant, a 25 year old New York man, stated that he was riding his rental cycle up the hill to the hotel when two unknown individuals on a motorcycle rode up from behind and removed his black backpack from the rental cycle’s basket. The culprits then made good their escape. The visitor was not injured. The backpack contained items of clothing. One of the suspects was described as of stocky build wearing a blue jacket; he was the pillion passenger on a red motorcycle which fled the scene. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Witness Appeal: Injury RTC - The 28 year old Paget man (Indian national) that sustained serious head injuries in a serious road traffic collision that occurred around 4:45am Saturday on South Road in Paget near the junction with St. Paul’s Lane involving two motorcycles has now been flown overseas to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston USA for further medical treatment. A 22 year old Devonshire man was also injured and taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however, it appears that the motorcycles were traveling in opposite directions when they collided.

Handbag Snatch - Around 11:45pm on Thursday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch on Scaur Hill in Sandys parish. It appears that around 11:40pm that day, the complainant a 52 year old Quebec woman (Canadian visitor) was the pillion passenger on a rental cycle traveling toward Dockyard when two unknown men on a motorcycle rode up from behind, took a black duffle bag from the rental cycle’s basket and made good their escape heading east. The duffle bag contained personal items including a quantity of cash and a cellular phone. The complainant and her male companion (rental cycle rider) were not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The complainants stated that sometime between 8am and 6:55pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash.
