Weekend Police Activity - Over the weekend, police officers arrested 24 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested two people on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
Traffic Advisory: Queen’s Birthday Parade, Saturday June 9th 2012 - A parade celebrating the Official Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen will take place on Front Street in the City of Hamilton at 10am on Saturday 9th, 2012. As a result, the following traffic restrictions will be in place:
Collisions - Around 12:50am on Thursday, June 7th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle collision on Harbour Road in Paget near the junction with Chapel Road. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling along Harbour Road when it collided with a wall and a utility pole. The rider, a 31 year old Devonshire man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Missing Juvenile Kawesi Smith Located - The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 16 year old Kawesi Smith. He returned Monday night (June 4th) safe and well.
Burglary Advisory
The Bermuda Police Service continues to encourage the public to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods, following recent reported burglaries throughout the island.
Missing Juvenile: Kawesi Smith [Located] - The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for the public’s assistance in locating 16
year old Kawesi Smith. The teenager is described as fair skinned, 5’9” tall weighing 129 pounds with brown hair. He was last seen in Devonshire around 9pm Thursday, May 31st wearing a white T-shirt and dark coloured jeans.
Advisory: Scam E-mail - Once again the Bermuda Police Service would like to remind members of the public to remain vigilant regarding phishing e-mails and other scams that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data.
Currently an e-mail is circulating, allegedly from the “National Olympic Committee”. The e-mail claims that the recipient’s e-mail address was selected to receive two tickets to the 2012 London Olympics and a prize of £150,000. The e-mail states that in order to claim the money the recipient must disclose their personal information such as their name, age, gender, occupation, home and e-mail addresses and telephone numbers.
Missing Person Yasvin Jhuboo Found - The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 23 year old Yasvin Jhuboo. He has been found safe and well.
Single Vehicle Collision
Around 3:45am on Wednesday May 30th, police responded to a reported single vehicle collision on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Brighton Hill Road. It appears that a car was travelling along South Road and apparently went off the road, receiving extensive front end damage as a result.
Robbery - Around 10pm on Monday May 28th, police responded to a reported robbery in the Roberts Avenue, Devonshire area. It appears that a 20 year old Pembroke man was travelling along Roberts Avenue on a motorcycle when he was accosted by two unknown males on another motorcycle near the junction with Palmetto Road. The unknown pillion passenger then took the victim’s motorcycle and made his good escape along Roberts Avenue in a northerly direction. The other suspect left shortly after. The suspects are described as two males wearing black hooded tops and dark coloured helmets with visors.
Update: Collision in City of Hamilton - Around 3:30am on Sunday, May 27th, police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in the vicinity of Reid Street and Queen Street in the City of Hamilton. As a result, the rider a 19 year old Pembroke man was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. He has since been treated and released.
Assault - Around 9pm on Thursday May 24th, police responded to a report of a disturbance along North Shore Road in Devonshire in the area of Lookout Lane. On arrival, it was ascertained that two individuals had been involved in an altercation. The victim, a 39 year old Devonshire man was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The suspect, a 43 year old Devonshire man, was subsequently located by officers and arrested in connection with this incident. Inquiries are underway.
