Vehicle Fire - Around 6:20am on Monday, September 17th police and Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel attended a reported vehicle fire on Friswells Road in Devonshire. A white Suzuki car was damaged as a result; however the fire was apparently extinguished prior to the arrival of the emergency services. There were no reported injuries. Inquiries into this incident are underway and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Detective Constable Chris Sabean on 295-0011.
Collision on Harbour Road - Around 3:30pm on Wednesday, September 12th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision on Harbour Road in Paget near the junction with Stowe Hill. It appears that a female visitor to the island was riding a rental cycle along Harbour Road when the rental cycle collided with a wall. As a result the rider, a 55 year old American woman, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check she was in stable condition on a general ward. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Tropical Storm Leslie Recap - The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their cooperation during Tropical Storm Leslie. There were no reports of any significant damage, injury or crime.
Weekend Police Activity
Over the weekend, police officers arrested 18 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested one person on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
Investigation into Shooting at North Shore Sports Club - Around 11pm on Tuesday, September 4th police responded to a report of gunshots at a North Shore Road, Devonshire sports club. It now appears that a lone suspect attended the premises and discharged a firearm. A 29 year old male was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for superficial injuries and later released. There were no other injuries reported.
Weekend Police Activity - Over the Labour Day holiday weekend, police officers arrested 27 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested four people on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
Robbery - Around 2am on Sunday, September 2nd police responded to a reported robbery in the Middle Road, Southampton area. It appears that the victim, a 20 year old Southampton man, was riding his motorcycle in the area when he was accosted by two unknown men on another motorcycle. One of the suspects brandished what appeared to be a firearm and took the Southampton man’s motorcycle before both suspects made good their escape via motorcycle. The victim was not injured.
Update: Reported Serious Three Vehicle Collision in Warwick - Around 10:20pm on Thursday, August 30th police and first responders attended a reported serious three vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Longford Road. It now appears that a jeep and two motorcycles were involved in the collision.
The driver of the jeep, a 59 year old Warwick woman and the rider of one of the motorcycles, a 49 year old Hamilton parish man, have been treated for their injuries at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and released. The rider of the second motorcycle, a 52 year old Southampton man, remains in hospital and at last check was in stable condition.
Swimmer in Distress Rescued At Horseshoe Bay - Around 7:45pm on Monday, August 27th police and first responders attended a report of a swimmer in distress at Horseshoe Bay beach in Southampton. It appears that prior to police arrival, members of the public in the area rescued a man in apparent difficulty from the sea and rendered CPR. The victim, believed to be an Indian national in his mid-30s, was then taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and at last check was in the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition.
Single Vehicle Collision in Devonshire - Around 4:15pm on Thursday, August 23rd police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision on Middle Road in Devonshire near the junction with Oleander Lane. It appears that a jeep was being driven along Middle Road when it collided with a roadside pillar. As a result the driver, a 71 year old Pembroke man, received an arm injury. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and further medical assessment.
