Serious Collision Victim Airlifted Overseas - The 32 year old Southampton man seriously injured in a single vehicle motorcycle collision around 2:30am on Saturday, June 30th along Middle Road in Southampton has been flown overseas for further medical treatment. Reported Serious Collision on Palmetto Road - Around 2:15am on Monday, July 2nd police and first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle collision on Palmetto Road in Devonshire near the junction with Aeolia Drive. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling along Palmetto Road when it went off the road. The rider, a 22 year old Devonshire man, was found at the scene in an unresponsive state and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check he was in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
Collision - Around 8:45pm on Wednesday June 27th, police responded to a report of a collision on Somerset Road near the junction with Scotts Hill Road in Sandys. It appears that a motorcycle was travelling along Somerset Road when it collided with a parked car. The rider, a 45 year old Sandys man was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he was treated and released. The Sandys man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and later bailed. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Collision - Around 11:50am on Tuesday June 26th, police and first responders attended a reported collision at the junction of King Street and Elliot Street in Pembroke. It appears that an auxiliary cycle and a car collided at the junction. The rider, a 17 year old Pembroke man was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. He was treated and later released. There were no other reported injuries. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
Collisions - Around 9:20pm on Monday June 25th, police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision along South Road in Devonshire. It appears that a motorcycle was travelling along South Road when it lost control and fell to the ground near the junction with Tee Street. The rider, a 32 year old Paget man was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Impaired Drivers - Around 12:20am on Sunday June 24th, police were on mobile patrol along South Road in Southampton when they noticed a car that was travelling erratically. The officers subsequently stopped the car and approached the driver, a 53 year old Warwick woman, who appeared to be intoxicated. As a result, the Warwick woman was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. She later failed the alco-analyser test and was detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Collision - Around 7:30am on Wednesday, June 20th police and first responders attended a reported collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the Railway Trail involving a van and a motorcycle. It appears that both vehicles were traveling along Middle Road when they collided. The motorcycle then collided with a wall. The rider of the motorcycle, a 53 year old Sandys parish woman, reportedly received relatively minor injuries. There were no other injuries reported. Both vehicles were damaged, the motorcycle extensively. There were temporary traffic delays in the area as a result. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
Impaired Drivers - Around 2:30am on Monday June 18th, police were on mobile patrol along St. David’s Road in St. George’s when they observed an SUV that was travelling erratically. Officers stopped the vehicle and approached the driver, a 25 year old Devonshire man who appeared to be intoxicated. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Speeding Tickets Issued - Officers from the Roads Policing Unit conducted laser speed checks in both the western and eastern parishes during Wednesday June 13th and Thursday June 14th. As a result, over 40 tickets were issued, with several motorists ticketed for speeds in the 60 and 70 kph range.
Police Assist Stalled Driver - Around 4:15pm on Monday June 11th, police were on mobile patrol along South Road, Paget when they noticed a car that was stalled in the road near the junction with Inglewood Lane.
Officers stopped to check on the driver, a 60 year old Hamilton parish woman who told them that the car ran out of gas and stopped in the middle of the street.
