Police Memorial Service Today - The Memorial Service postponed earlier this month during Police Week due to inclement weather is being held today at 4pm in the Military Cemetery off Alexandra Road in Devonshire.

Dignitaries, including His Excellency the Governor Mr. George Fergusson and the Commissioner of Police Mr. Michael DeSilva together with family members, are participating in the ceremony to remember those who lost their lives whilst serving the Bermuda Police Service as police officers, reserve officers and support staff.

Confirmed Firearm Incident - Police responded to reports of gun shots being fired in the area of Somerset Road in Sandys parish around 12:15am on Thursday, October 25th. Upon police arrival it was forensically confirmed that gun shots were discharged in that area, however there were no reported injuries. The area was secured and an active investigation has commenced into this confirmed firearm incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone that may have seen persons acting suspiciously in the area of Somerset Road and Ledgelets Lane to contact police on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Single Vehicle Collision  - Around 1:40am on Wednesday, October 24th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle motorcycle collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Seymour Farm Road. The motorcycle rider, a 32 year old Pembroke man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check he was in stable condition on a general ward. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact Police Constable Connie Saltus at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

Arrest on Suspicion of Impaired Driving - Around 2:30am on Saturday, October 20th police officers on mobile patrol along South Road in Paget observed a motorcycle being ridden through the area in an erratic manner. The motorcyclist, a 32 year old Sandys parish man, was caused to stop as a result and appeared to be intoxicated. He was then arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Rescheduled Police Memorial Service - The Memorial Service postponed during Police Week due to inclement weather will now be held on Friday 26th October at 4pm in the Military Cemetery off Alexandra Road in Devonshire.

Each year a memorial ceremony organised in conjunction with the Bermuda Ex-Police Association is held as part of Police Week to commemorate those who lost their lives whilst serving the Bermuda Police Service as police officers, reserve officers and support staff – in particular since the year 2000, as well as retired officers and staff that have passed during the previous year.

Advisory: Distributing Objectionable Images - The Bermuda Police Service would once again like to make the public aware that distributing objectionable images of persons via cell phone and or social media may result in the sender or the receiver being prosecuted. In particular, sending or possessing any child pornography or objectionable images of children is an offence punishable under the law. Anyone found with such images can expect to be arrested and brought before the courts.

Damage Only Collision in Hamilton Parish - Around 5:30pm on Thursday, October 11th police responded to a report of a single vehicle damage only collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Cottage Hill Road. It appears that a car was being driven along North Shore Road when it collided with a wall and overturned. The vehicle received damage to multiple areas as a result and the driver, a 42 year old man, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. There were no reported injuries. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.

Reported Gunshots in St. Monica’s Road Area - Around 10:40pm on Wednesday, October 10th police responded to reports of gunshots in the St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke area. After an initial search of the area, no evidence was found to substantiate the reports. In addition, there were no reported injuries. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area or who may have any information is encouraged to contact the main police number on 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Reported Serious Collision in Devonshire - Around 12:45pm on Tuesday, October 9th police and first responders attended a reported serious two vehicle collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire near Barkers Hill. Details are unclear at this time; however it appears that a car and a motorcycle collided at that location.

The motorcycle rider, believed to be a 47 year old Hamilton parish man, was seriously injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
