Aggravated Burglary

Around 2:52am on this morning, [09-Mar] police responded to a report of an aggravated burglary at a residence in the Radnor Close, Hamilton Parish area.

It was reported that three male suspects entered the home of a 62 year-old woman, with one of the suspects brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.

The suspects demanded money and jewellery before making good their escape on foot with a quantity of each. There were no reported injuries.

Bermuda Marine Police is seeking the public’s assistance in locating  anyone who has purchased or knows of anyone may have purchased a Walker Bay Punt or similar punts on Emoo over the last several months. In addition, the engines are a 6hp Evinrude outboard and a 4hp Mercury outboard engine. The Marine Unit is currently investigating the sale of stolen property via eMoo.

Effective 1 April 2016 Police Will Not Accept Foreign Cheques

Effective 1 April 2016, the Bermuda Police Service WILL NOT accept any foreign cheques or money orders. Local cheques (US and Bermuda dollars only) from the three Bermuda banks are acceptable.

Police Appeal For Witnesses in Fatal Collision

Police continue to appeal for witnesses in the road traffic death of 21 year-old Ezariah Matthie, which took place on Monday 29th February around 2:38pm at the junction of Ord Road and Harvey Road, Paget. Police are particularly keen to speak with a man who was at the scene at the time of the accident, but left the area before his details could be recorded. Anyone who may have witnessed this fatal collision or may have information on the movements of Mr. Matthie before the collision should contact PC Evelyn on 247-1145.

21yr old Man In Road Fatality Named

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 21 year-old Ezariah Matthie, who died after he was involved in a two-vehicle road traffic accident on Monday 29th February at 2:38pm. The accident took place at the junction of Ord Road and Harvey Road in Paget, where it appears that Mr. Matthie collided with a truck that was turning onto the junction. He was taken to the hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries later that same evening.

Reported Aggravated Burglary in Paget

Around 4:00am on Saturday 27th February, Police attended a report of a home invasion in the South Road Paget Area.

On police arrival, it was reported that two unknown males gained entry into the residence by smashing a glass door and confronted the male and female victims, before making demands for money.

The suspects were challenged by the male victim, causing them to flee the scene on foot.

First Road Fatality for 2016: Randy Santelices

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 31 year old guest worker, Randy Santelices of Timber Lane, Pembroke who died after he was involved in a single vehicle road accident on Thursday February 25th at 1:22am. The accident took place at the junction of Front Street and Queen Streets where it appears that Randy lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the Birdcage. Mr. Santelices was taken to the hospital for treatment  but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead the same day at 6:12pm.

50 Year Old Male Driver Arrested After Pursuit

Around 12:35pm on Monday, 22nd February Police had reason to stop a male driving a motorcar near the junction of Elliot Street and Princess Street, Pembroke.

The driver, a 50 year old Devonshire man who initially refused to stop for police, led officers on a high-speed chase throughout the North Hamilton area, before he was eventually caused to stop on St. Augustine Hill near the junction with Parsons Road.

Three Arrests After Disturbance at Rural Hill Plaza

Police responded to a report of a disturbance at The Rural Hill Plaza outside of Ice Queen in Paget at 3:35am this morning (Friday). Upon police arrival it appears that a group of individuals were involved in an altercation resulting in projectiles being thrown. Three persons were arrested for warrants on the scene and inquiries into incident are ongoing.

19 Year Old Female Driver Seriously Injured in Single Vehicle Car Collision

At 12:15pm on Wednesday, first responders attended a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision that took place on St. John’s Road in Pembroke just 200 meters from the junction with North Shore Road. It appears that a 19 year old woman was driving a car when she lost control of the vehicle and hit a wall on the opposite side of the road. The 19 year old woman has been taken to hospital where she is being treated for head injuries.
