Two Vehicle Collision in Paget

Police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place around 4:15pm at the junction of Middle Road in Paget and Valley Road, next to the Rubis Gas Station.

Upon police arrival it was ascertained that a car and a motorcycle collided resulting in the male on the motorcycle being conveyed to the hospital with what appears to be head injuries.

Peaceful Protest Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service supports the rights of all Bermuda Residents to free speech and the right to gather and peacefully protest. These rights do of course come with some responsibilities and the Police Service would like to encourage all groups wishing to form public processions  of the Bermuda laws that govern such activities.

The Public Order Act of 1963 makes the requirement of those wishing to march on a public street that they make an application to the office of the Deputy Governor at least three (3) days in advance to obtain a permit.

Child Abusive Images

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of the inappropriate videos of persons in compromising and vulnerable states that are circulating around the island. It appears that in some instances a few of these individuals may be under the age of consent and thus those images are classified as child abusive images or what is commonly known as child pornography. Anyone in possession of these videos or images or who forwards them on in any format is committing offenses under the criminal code.

Investigation Into Two Recent Firearm Incidents

Acting Inspector Jason Smith of the Serious Crime Unit - On Friday, January 22, 2016, Bermuda experienced two unfortunate acts of violence.  The first incident took place at around 11:30am at the junction of Overview Hill and North Shore Road in Pembroke. It appears that a male was turning at that junction when two males on a black motorcycle open fire on a 20 year-old Pembroke man.

As a result, the 20 year-old man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and subsequently was air ambulanced off the island for further treatment.

Armed Robbery of Taxi Driver

Around 11:30pm on Thursday 14th January 2016, Police responded to a report of a robbery on South Road, Southampton near the Gulfstream Restaurant.

It was reported that a taxi driver was dispatched to the area to collect a fare, when he was approached by to unknown males on a white motorcycle.

The pillion passenger brandished what appear to be a knife and demanded the driver hand over money.

37 Year Old Man Injured in Shooting Now Recovering on General Ward

The 37 year old male victim in the shooting on Saturday on Happy Valley, is still in King Edward the 7th Memorial Hospital where he is now out of the ICU and on a general ward where he is listed in stable condition. Officers from the Serious Crime Unit would like to speak with anyone who can assist us with this investigation particularly anyone in the Parsons Road, Happy Valley, Two and One Way Deep Dale area who may have seen men on motorcycle(s) acting suspiciously between 10pm and 10:45pm Saturday night.

General Comment From Police on Latest Violent Incidents

Over the last 5 days there have been 5 notable incidents of violence on the island, this marks a small uptick in violent crime on the island. It should be noted that in most cases there has been a pre-existing relationship between the victim and the suspect and as such most victims appear to have been specially targeted by someone they knew. 

Woman Assaulted By Two Women With a Baseball Bat [Updated]

Around 2:45 this morning [08-Jan-2016] police responded to a report of an assault which occurred in the Curving Avenue Pembroke area.

It was reported that two female suspects attended the victim’s residence and assaulted her with a baseball bat.

The victim, an 18 year old Pembroke woman was transported to KEMH where she is currently being treated for head injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Police Continue Appeal for Missing Bard Orell Davis {Located]

Police are still asking the public’s assistance in locating 51 year-old Bard Orrell Davis of Hamilton Parish, who was last seen during the week of 21st December 2015, in the Town of St. George wearing a red shirt and beige pants. He is described as a white male approximately 5’10" tall, weighing approximately 175lbs. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Bard Orrell Davis is asked to contact police on 295-0011. Please note: Mr. Davis is hearing impaired.

Update: Mr. Davis has been located. We would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating him.

Police can now report the two 17 year old males involved in the collision that took place on Middle Road in Warwick where a motorcycle collided with a car that was turning onto Cobbs Hill Road are both resting on a general ward at KEMH with non-life-threatening injuries.

Continued Appeal for Witnesses to Come Forward: New Year’s Day Traffic Incident and Allegations of Assault

 Police are still appealing for witnesses in the St. John’s Road Pembroke area on the evening of 1st January 2016, where a police pursuit ended in the arrest of a 17 year old youth.  Police are especially interested in anyone who may have video/cellphone footage of the police pursuit and or the subsequent arrest. As stated yesterday, an investigation has commenced by the BPS and any witnesses are encouraged to contact Detective Inspector Derricka Burns via her e-mail dburns@bps.bm or direct telephone 247-1062.
