The Bermuda Police Service has taken delivery of a new police vessel. “Heron 3” is a 32’ Boston Whaler that replaces its predecessor of the same name. The former boat, a 27’ Boston Whaler was taken out of service last December following a commissioned marine survey that revealed structural hull failure beyond repair. The boat was 18 years old.
The new “Heron 3” was specially equipped for police patrols by Brunswick Commercial Government Products Ltd., based in the USA. It is powered by twin Evinrude 300HP G2 outboard engines that were purchased through the local Evinrude dealer, Bermuda Marine and Supply. The total cost of the vessel is $245,000 and funding was made available in the Police capital budget for 2015/16.
