Reported Medical Emergency

Around 1:20pm on Tuesday, December 20th police officers were dispatched to a reported medical emergency at the Hamilton Princess hotel, apparently involving a 25 year old female Canadian visitor.

Details remain limited at this time. However on arrival, EMTs were tending to the young woman.

She was then taken from the premises via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and at last check was receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

Police Officer Suspended

An allegation has been made against a serving female police officer that she breached the standards of professional behaviour when she left her assigned duties without permission, covered her police uniform and joined the protest at the House of Assembly on Friday 2nd December 2016.

A gross misconduct investigation is in progress and the officer has been suspended from duty.

Single Vehicle Car Crash on Harbour Road in Paget

Around 1pm on Friday, December 9th police officers as well as Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel responded to a reported single vehicle car crash on Harbour Road in Paget near Lower Ferry.

Initial information indicates that the vehicle involved struck a wall and ended up hanging off the edge of the roadway.

Sudden Death in Warwick

Around 1:30pm on Friday, December 2nd police officers were dispatched to a reported sudden death at a St. Mary’s Road, Warwick residence where a 68 year old man was discovered in an unresponsive state and subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by an on call doctor.

No further information regarding the deceased will be released at this time until next of kin have been notified.

Traffic Advisory: Regimental Funeral for Colour Sergeant Whorms

The motoring public is advised that traffic diversions and parking restrictions will be in effect for the regimental funeral of Colour Sergeant Keith Whorms at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity on Church Street, City of Hamilton 11am Friday, December 2nd.

Advisory: Reported Willful Damage, Theft From Vehicles

Over the past two days, three incidents of willful damage to cars have been reported in the areas of Harbour Road Paget, Harbour Road Warwick and Cavendish Close, Devonshire.

In all three incidents an unknown culprit broke into the vehicles and searched the interior.

Car Over Embankment in Paget: Appeal for Driver, Witnesses

Around 4am on Friday, November 25th police officers were dispatched to a reported single vehicle car crash on South Road in Paget, near the junction with Tribe Road No. 5.

Apparently the car involved was discovered over an embankment by members of the public in the vicinity of Coral Beach Club.

When police arrived, the vehicle was unoccupied.

Witness Appeal: November 9th Hamilton Parish Collision

Inquiries continue regarding a reported two vehicle collision that occurred around 7pm Wednesday, November 9th on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Studio Lane involving a car and a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist involved, a 50 year old Hamilton parish man, was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

There were no other injuries reported.

Two Customs Officers Arrested Last Week in Separate Investigations

Two Customs officers have been placed on administrative leave by H.M. Customs after each was arrested last week in connection with separate proactive police investigations.

Both individuals have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

No additional comment regarding these matters can be made at this time.

Investigation Continues Into Eleventh Road Fatality

The investigation continues regarding the collision that claimed the life of 84 year old Maureen Peckett, Bermuda’s eleventh road fatality of the year.

Mrs. Peckett was seriously injured in a reported two car collision on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Melville Crescent around 9:45pm Thursday, October 20th and remained in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit until her passing 1:25pm Friday, November 11th.

In particular, police are now seeking the driver and or occupants of a small white car that was travelling west along South Road, Devonshire directly behind Mrs. Peckett’s car the night of the collision.
