Weekend Activity - Over the weekend there were 8 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and no reported burglaries. There were also 7 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 6 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 5 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.

In addition there were 8 individuals arrested for drug related offences and 5 individuals arrested for robbery.

Robbery - Around 7:40pm on Thursday, Police responded to a report of a robbery on Crawl Point Lane West in Hamilton parish near the junction with North Shore Road. It appears that the victim, a 34 year old Hamilton parish man, was riding a motorcycle along Crawl Point Lane West when he was accosted by a group of unknown men. The assailants then fled the scene on foot with one taking the victim’s motorcycle. The Hamilton parish man sustained minor injuries which did not require medical treatment.

Vehicle Fire - Around 5:40pm on Wednesday, Police responded to a report of a vehicle fire on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish. It appears that a taxi was traveling along North Shore Road when the vehicle began to emit sparks and smoke. The driver, a 50 year old Sandys parish man, managed to escape uninjured. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was extensively damaged; however there are no suspicious circumstances. Traffic was diverted away from the area for approximately an hour.

Injury RTC - Around 8:40am on Wednesday, Police responded to a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Victoria Street in Pembroke in the vicinity of the Washington Street Bus Terminal involving a bus and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 67 year old St. George’s man, was injured; however his injuries are not serious. No one on the bus was injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

November 23 - Weekly Review

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Burglary - Around 3:30am on Monday, Police responded to a report of a burglary at a Pembroke hotel. It appears that around 3:15am an unknown culprit gained entry into a guest room and was confronted by the occupants. The intruder made good his escape after a scuffle with the 67 year old American male visitor in the room. The visitor received minor injuries to his arm; however medical treatment was not required. His wife, a 65 year old American woman, was not injured. The surrounding area was thoroughly searched by officers however the burglar was not located.

November 19 - Daily Report

Damage Only RTC - Around 6:30am on Friday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Harbour Road in Paget near the junction with Stowe Hill. Details about the collision are unclear at this time; however the car involved received extensive front end damage. The driver, a 34 year old Sandys parish man, was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

November 17 - Daily Report

Theft - At 9:45pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a theft from an unattended vehicle. It appears that sometime between 5:35pm and 9:30pm that day an unknown culprit gained entry into a car parked on Wesley Street in Pembroke. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Damage Only RTC - At 7:15am on Monday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Dock Hill. It appears that a SUV was traveling along North Shore Road when the driver, a 40 year old Smith’s parish man, lost control and collided with a wall. The driver was not injured; however the SUV received extensive front end damage.
