Town Hall Meeting For Western Parish Residents - Members of the public living in the western parishes are invited to attend a Town Hall Meeting held by Western Commanding Officer, Acting Chief Inspector Mark Clarke and members of the Western Division at 7pm on Tuesday, 12th April 2011, at Port Royal Primary School located on Church Road in Southampton.

Officers will be addressing the western community on what the Service has accomplished during the past six months and the vision for the next six months as well as the objectives of the Western Community Action Team. There will also be an open discussion on concerns raised by the public.

Fraud Advisory - The Bermuda Police Service continues to remind members of the public about online scams and phishing e-mails as apparently some members of the public are still being deceived. The scam artists are becoming more sophisticated with their operations and the public must remain vigilant.

Industrial Accident - Around 2:15pm on Monday, Police responded to a reported industrial accident on Woodlands Road in Pembroke. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also attended the scene. It appears that the victim, a 67 year old Paget man, was working inside a container at a warehouse on the premises when he fell to the ground. As a result he sustained a head injury and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check the Paget man was in stable condition on a general ward.

Update: Serious Injury RTC - Around 2:15am on Monday, Police attended a reported serious single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Cavendish Road and Lane Hill in Pembroke. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling along Lane Hill when the rider, a 33 year old Pembroke man, collided with the sidewalk at the junction. The Pembroke man sustained serious head and facial injuries and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries while serious are not believed to be life threatening at this time. The motorcycle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Update: Officer Injured After Pursuit - The officer injured following a pursuit in the North Hamilton area around 3:30am on Thursday, March 24th is recovering on a general ward at the hospital. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011 or the independent, confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.

Officer Injured After Pursuit - Around 3:30am on Thursday, March 24th 2011 Police were on mobile patrol along Court Street in Pembroke when they encountered a motorcycle at the junction with Dundonald Street. The officers attempted to stop the motorcycle to speak with the rider; however despite the use of the Police vehicle’s emergency equipment the motorcyclist failed to stop. A brief vehicle and foot pursuit took place before the motorcycle rider was intercepted outside a Middletown Lane residence. At that location the suspect apparently pushed one of the officers causing him to fall before fleeing the scene.

Road Safety Advisory - The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Serious Assault Suspect Arrested - Around 6am today (Monday, March 21st 2011) a 26 year old Sandys parish man suspected of seriously assaulting a 57 year old Sandys parish man was arrested by Police after being located at a Sandys parish residence. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

A check of the victim’s condition also around 6am today confirmed that he is in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing by the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit and anyone with any information that may assist is encouraged to contact detectives on 234-1010.

Robbery - Around 5:10pm on Thursday, Police responded to a reported robbery outside Maximart on Middle Road in Sandys parish. It appears that sometime between 4:30pm and 5pm that day the victim, a 28 year old Paget man, was sitting in a van outside the premises when he was accosted by two unknown men, one brandishing a bladed article. One of the suspects took the victim’s gold necklace before both suspects fled the scene on foot along Fairhaven Lane. The victim was not injured.

Disturbance on Front Street - Around 3:15am on Thursday, Police responded to a reported disturbance on Front Street in the City of Hamilton near the junction with Parliament Street. Officers observed several individuals engaged in a scuffle at the scene. Most of those involved fled on foot as Police attempted to diffuse the situation. However, two 18 year old Pembroke men that participated in the fracas were arrested and detained. A court appearance is anticipated.
