Collision on Crow Lane - Around 8pm on Thursday, January 3rd police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision on Crow Lane in Pembroke near the junction with Corkscrew Hill. It appears that a car was being driven along Crow Lane when it collided with a lamp post. The driver, a 44 year old Paget woman, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The car received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.

Reported Serious Collision in Smith’s Parish - Around 5:20pm on Wednesday, January 2nd police and first responders attended a reported serious two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Verdmont Road. It appears that an auxiliary cycle and a car were traveling along Middle Road when the vehicles collided.

The auxiliary cycle rider, a 17 year old Pembroke male, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check the victim was in the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition. There were no other injuries reported.

Advisory: Fake Bank E-mail Circulating - The Bermuda Police Service Financial Crime Unit continues to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding phishing e-mails that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data. One of the latest examples currently circulating is a fake e-mail claiming to be from HSBC titled ‘Dear Customer - Account is disable. (Important)’ stating:

Collision on North Shore Road - First responders attended the scene of a collision that took place on North Shore Road in Smith's parish, near the Aquarium at 11:30pm on Wednesday, December 26th. It appears that a 69 year old man was traveling on the aforementioned road when he lost control of the auxiliary cycle he was riding and collided with a wall. The victim was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment; however his injuries were not as serious as first suspected.

Building Search After Fire Confirms No Victims - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm that no one was injured due to the fire at the old Canadian Hotel building on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton that occurred around 10:20pm Wednesday, December 19th. A thorough search of the building was recently completed, which involved the use of excavating machinery to sift through debris within the structure. There were no victims found and there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

Fire Investigation Ongoing - The section of Reid Street between King Street and Court Street has been re-opened to normal traffic flow and parking after a further structural assessment of the old Canadian Hotel building damaged by fire Wednesday night was completed. However, inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

The Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service would like to thank the public for their cooperation and patience while the necessary inspections were carried out.

Update: Reported Serious Collision on Berry Hill Road - At last check the 42 year old man apparently seriously injured around 2:45am Thursday, December 20th in a single vehicle motorcycle collision on Berry Hill Road in Paget, remains in the Intensive Care Unit. It appears that the victim, believed to be an American contract worker, collided with a wall while riding along Berry Hill Road near the Botanical Gardens. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses or anyone with any information is encouraged to contact PC Kion-Keith Wade on 295-0011.

Tonight: Financial Crime Unit Community Awareness Class - Tonight’s community class is on How to Spot Scams & Counterfeit Currency and will be held at the Hamilton Police Station, 52 Victoria Street Pembroke, in the Community and Media Relations Room on the ground floor. This free hour long workshop starts at 6pm and will end with light refreshments and a tour of the Hamilton Police Station.

Those planning to attend tonight’s free workshop are encouraged to arrive on time as the community class will start promptly and space is limited.

This is the final meeting in this series of community classes for 2012.

Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving - Around 1:40am on Sunday, December 16th police officers were monitoring traffic along Middle Road in Sandys parish when a white car sped through the area. Officers followed the vehicle and caused it to stop near Granaway Heights Road in Southampton. The driver, a 27 year old Pembroke man, appeared to be intoxicated and was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Update: Reported Assault in Hamilton Parish - Detectives are continuing their inquiries into the apparent stabbing that occurred around 10:40pm Tuesday, December 11th at a Rocky Lane West, Hamilton parish residence. At last check the victim, a 43 year old Pembroke woman, was in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
