Fast Ferry Collides With Dock

At 6pm on Friday, Police received a report of the fast ferry ‘Cecil B. Smith colliding with the Rockaway ferry dock in Southampton. On arrival at the Hamilton ferry terminal, officers spoke with the pilot of the ferry, a 37 year old Sandys parish man.

Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 44 year old Robert John James of Smiths parish. Mr. James body was found at the bottom of his homes pool by a family member Thursday morning. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.

Burglary

At 7:20am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Swansville Road, Warwick residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 2:25am and 5:50am that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 1:55pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported fire on the premises of Cedarbridge Academy. On arrival officers noticed thick smoke coming from the back of the property. It appears that a derelict boat at that location caught fire. The Bermuda Fire Service was already on scene and extinguished the blaze. No one was injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

Around 8pm on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Chapel Road, Paget residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between 9:15am and 7:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a black ‘Longchamp handbag and two necklaces. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Handbag Snatch

Police responded to a report of a handbag snatching that took place yesterday in the area of Richmond Road and Bermudiana Road in Pembroke around 10pm. The victim stated that she was returning to her car which was parked on the east side of Bermudiana Road outside of the Bank of Bermuda and as she attempted to get into her vehicle, a man on a motorcycle rode up beside her and snatched her handbag from her hand. The rider did not have his lights engaged and made good his escape north on Bermudiana Road.

Police responded to a report of breaking and entering that took place on Vesey Street in Devonshire sometime yesterday. The complainants stated that they left their home at 7:30am only to return at 5pm to notice that someone broke into their home and removed a flat screen TV from the wall and a laptop computer from a table as well as a Christmas gift from inside the home. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering that took place yesterday at Sommersall Road in Smiths parish. The complainants stated that they left their home secure around 8am yesterday, only to return at 3pm to notice that someone broke into their dwelling. Stolen was a BlackBerry Pearl and an undisclosed amount of cash & jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering that took place yesterday at Greenview Lane in Smiths parish. The complainants state that they left their house secured at 8am yesterday only to return at 4:35pm to notice that someone had made an untidy search of their dwelling and stole an undisclosed amount of foreign currency, a Canon camera, I-Pod speakers, a DVD player, D&G glasses, a wedding ring with Celtic rose gold band, JBL speakers, an MP3 player, a gym bag containing two I-Pods and a few other personal items.

Disturbance

A few minutes after 3:30pm on Monday, Police responded to a report of a disturbance that took place on Berkeley Road in Pembroke. Upon Police arrival they noticed an unresponsive 14 year old male lying on the side of the road in the area of the Old Berkeley School.
