Police are reporting a dramatic decrease in incidents of breaking and entering over the weekend with only 5 reported incidents. This can be attributed to a team of officers that were tasked with targeting some of the serial offenders that have been targeting homes and business in and around Bermuda. We are still reminding residents to lock and secure their dwellings at all times.
Around 11:25pm on Thursday, Police attended a report of an attempted robbery on Parsons Road in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 24 year old Pembroke man, who stated that around 11:15pm he was parking his motorcycle outside his Parsons Road residence when he was approached from behind by a man who gripped him by the hands and demanded money.
Around 12:15pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Garthowen Road, Devonshire residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8:30am and 12 noon, someone gained entry into his home, stealing several items of jewelry and approximately U.S. $500 in cash.
At 10:30pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported assault/attempted robbery on Pitt’s Bay Road in Pembroke. The victim, a 26 year old Pembroke man, stated he was walking west along Pitt’s Bay Road in the area of Smatt’s Cycle Livery when he was assaulted from behind by two men. The victim was struck in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground.
Around 12:25 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Rose Hill Drive, Sandy’s parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that around midnight she heard a noise in the living room. When she went to investigate she found an unknown man in her house and confronted him.
Around 7:35 this morning, Police attended a reported fatal road traffic collision on Zuill’s Park Road in Smith’s parish. Details about the incident are unclear; however it appears that a motorcycle collided with a truck. The deceased (who was riding the motorcycle) is a 26 year old man. No further details will be released until the next of kin are notified.
At 6:10pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported theft from the St. George’s Club, on Rose Hill in St. George’s. On arrival officers spoke to the complainants who are American visitors to the island. They stated that while playing a round of golf on the St. George’s Golf Course they left a bag in their golf cart.
Around 10:50pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Trimingham Hill in Paget. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling south on Trimingham Hill when the rider, a 50 year old Southampton man, lost control and collided with a telephone pole. As a result, the motorcycle sustained front end damage.
Around 12:50 this morning, Police received a report of a body floating in the canal behind the Salvation Army Emergency Housing Complex on Marsh Lane in Pembroke. The body was found by two residents of the complex. A doctor attended and pronounced death at 1:30am.
At 2:40pm on Monday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Warwick Lane, Warwick residence. On arrival officers arrested the suspect, a 31 year old Warwick man, who was detained by the complainant. The complainant stated that around 2pm he was at home when he heard footsteps and went to investigate, finding the suspect in his kitchen.
