Burglary - Around 7:45am today, Police received a report of a burglary on Hinson’s Island. The complainant stated that sometime between 8pm on Thursday and 6am on Friday, an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into the home. The culprit(s) stole a silver Mac laptop computer, a 52” Samsung flat screen TV and a Dish Network satellite receiver. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 26 year old Pedro Rodrigues of Hamilton parish. Mr. Rodrigues, originally from the Azores, worked for a local landscaping company and was found in an unresponsive state by co-workers at a Town Hill Road, Smith’s parish residence around 9am Wednesday. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician. Inquiries are ongoing; however foul play is not suspected. It is anticipated that an autopsy will be performed in due course. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.
Burglary
Sudden Death - Around 9am today, Police received a report of a man’s lifeless body being found at a residence on Town Hill Road in Smith’s parish. It appears that the 26 year old guest worker was found in a non responsive state by his fellow co-workers as they performed their duties as landscapers. The 26 year old Hamilton parish resident was pronounced dead by an on call physician at the scene at 9:48am. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified. Foul play is not suspected.
Vehicle Fire
The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.
During the week of Monday, August 24th – Monday, August 31st 2009 there were:
Injury RTC - At 3:05pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the car was exiting the parking lot of the Shelly Bay Marketplace and the motorcycle was traveling west on North Shore Road when the vehicles collided. The male motorcycle rider sustained a possible broken left leg and abrasions. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the car, a 47 year old woman, was not injured. The motorcycle was extensively damaged while the car received moderate front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Injury RTC - Around 10 this morning, Police attended a reported collision resulting in injury that occurred on Park Road in Pembroke. Details are unclear at this time; however, it appears that a 34 year old woman was driving an SUV on Park Road when she lost control of her vehicle and ended up going through the glass door at IBC. As a result a 14 year old male employee of IBC was taken to KEMH with lacerations to his abdomen and pain in his arm. The 34 year old woman was also taken to the hospital for shock. An investigation into the collision is underway.
Burglary
Burglary - Around 2:30am today, Police received a report of a burglary at a Middle Road, Southampton residence. The complainants stated that around 2:10am an unknown man gained entry into the premises and stole a quantity of cash. The culprit then made good his escape. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’ tall of slim build. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Burglary - Around 4am today, Police attended a reported burglary at a Riviera Crescent, Southampton residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that they were awoken by noises inside their home. When they went to investigate, they found an unknown man inside the residence. The offender then made good his escape on foot. A quantity of cash was discovered missing. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, approximately 5’8” tall of slim build wearing blue denim shorts, a dark coloured shirt and a dark coloured hat. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Injury RTC - Around 3:05pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Winton Hill Lane involving two cars. It appears that one car was traveling west on North Shore Road and the other car was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. Both vehicles were extensively damaged. The driver of the westbound car, a 46 year old Smith’s parish man, was not injured while the driver of the eastbound car, a 52 year old St. George’s woman, complained of tightness in her chest and back. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
