Threat of Premier - The Bermuda Police Service following the information received by the Premier’s Press Secretary Jamahl Simmons has commenced inquiries into the threat against the Premier, Doctor the Honourable Ewart F. Brown JP MP. The first course of action will be to assess the threat, then identify whether or not any criminal offences have occurred.

Man Arrested in Connection with Stolen Dog - At 3:30pm on Saturday, police responded to a report of a breaking and entering that took place on Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton Parish. Upon police arrival it was ascertained that the complainant left her home at 10am only to return at 2pm to discover that someone had gained entry into her dwelling and removed a dog. A 51 year old man has been arrested in connection with this matter and the dog has been returned to its rightful owner.

Vehicle Fire - Around 5:45am on Friday, Police attended a reported vehicle fire on Foothills Road in Devonshire. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also attended the scene where a motorcycle was ablaze outside a residence. The fire was subsequently extinguished by Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel. No one was injured; however the motorcycle was extensively damaged. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Update: House Fire - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 67 year old Gordon Howard of Warwick. Mr. Howard was pronounced dead at 2:09am on Wednesday by a doctor at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family & friends of Mr. Howard. The investigation into the cause of the fire at his Fairways Road, Warwick residence is ongoing.

House Fire - Around 1:30am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a fire at a Fairways Road, Warwick residence. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service as well as Police officers promptly attended the scene and found the home ablaze. The victim, a 67 year old Warwick man, was extricated from the home by Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel in an unresponsive state. He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but was subsequently pronounced dead. No further information will be released until the next of kin have been notified. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Burglary - Around 12 noon on Saturday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Highwood Lane, Paget residence. It appears that sometime between 8am and 7pm on Friday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 8:40pm on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Fiddlewood Drive, Warwick residence. It appears that sometime between 8am and 4pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Update: Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 62 year old David Hayward of Pembroke. He was pronounced dead at 2:12pm on Thursday August 5th by a doctor at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital following a medical emergency at his home. An autopsy will be performed on the deceased in the near future. Foul play is not suspected at this time; however inquiries are being conducted into the circumstances surrounding his death. The Bermuda Police Service would like to extend condolences to the family & friends of Mr. Hayward.

Update: Damage Only RTC - At 9:55am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a damage only road traffic collision at the junction of North Shore Road and My Lord’s Bay Lane in Hamilton parish involving a truck and a car. It appears that the car was traveling west along North Shore Road when the truck exited My Lord’s Bay Lane on to North Shore Road heading in the opposite direction and the vehicles collided. As a result the car received extensive front end damage while the truck received moderate front end damage.

Damage Only RTC - At 9:55am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a damage only road traffic collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with My Lord’s Bay Lane involving a truck and a car. Details about the collision are unclear at the moment; however apparently no one was injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
