Injury RTC

Sun, 2005-11-06

At 7:30am on Saturday, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of South Road and Brighton Hill in Devonshire, involving a motorcycle and a car. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling east on South Road and the car was traveling in the opposite direction when they collided at the junction as the car attempted to turn on to Brighton Hill.

Assault

Around 4:15 this morning, Police attended a reported assault outside of Champions on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that a fight took place between a few men outside the club, and it is believed a bladed weapon was used in the attack. As a result two men were injured and taken to KEMH via ambulance.

Breaking & Entering

At 7:10 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Lighthouse Road, Southampton residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 1am and 6:15am that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her apartment. The culprit stole $80 in cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Attempted Robbery

Around 7:45pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported robbery at Arnold's Express (the old Dismount Robinson's store) at the junction of Front Street and King Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 51 year old Sandy's parish man, who is the store manager.

Sexual Assault Investigation

The Bermuda Police Service is currently conducting inquiries into a series of sexual assaults in Southampton, Warwick and Paget which we believe may be linked. In the past several months, women have reported to the Police that they have been awoken during the early morning hours by a male who has assaulted them.

Robbery

At 12:35 this morning, Police attended a reported robbery at a Highwood Lane, Paget residence. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 47 year old Paget man, who stated that around 12:20am as he attempted to enter his apartment two men approached him and demanded money. The 47 year old refused, and a struggle ensued.

Halloween Related Incidents

The Bermuda Police Service (including members of the Bermuda Reserve Police) had adequate resources on duty during Halloween night and into this morning to respond to any incidents that occurred. Officers patrolled island wide, dealing with a variety of calls for service. There were 16 arrests made in total (including 5 arrests on Court Street in Pembroke) for the following offences:

Disturbance

At 10:45pm on Sunday, Police attended Captain's Lounge on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton following a reported disturbance. On arrival officers observed a crowd of approximately 20 people gathered outside the premises. Seven men were arrested in the area (ranging in age from 19 - 26 years old) for various offences including outstanding warrants and offensive words.

Injury RTC

At 11:45pm on Friday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Devonshire near the junction with Garthowen Road. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling east on Middle Road when the rider lost control, colliding with the sidewalk. As a result, the motorcycle received front end damage.
